Lady Shorthorns take home numerous All-District awards

MARFA - All-District Selections are out and the district champions, Marfa Lady Shorthorns, cleaned house by taking top superlatives and numerous first and second team picks. Kendra Serrano was named the 2018 district’s Most Valuable Player of the Year and was joined by Offensive MVP Georgina Brugette and Defensive MVP Kaci Flores. The trio accounted for the bulk of Marfa’s offensive production and defensive putouts and strikeouts posted by Serrano. District 1 All-District Team members were four-year starter Rebecca Ontiveros, Isabella Morales (second baseman), Alexia Marquez (first baseman), Elena Hernandez (OF), Samantha Jimenez (OF), Eliana Catano (OF), and Tais Chanez (OF). With the exception of senior Ontiveros, the Marfa’s softball program returns eight starters next year and hopes to make a strong showing in 2019.
