George Thomas Roberts Jr., born on December 20, 1938 in Michigan, passed away in Marfa on October 17, 2018.
George lived all over the United States before settling down in Marfa around 2003. He volunteered at the Marfa & Presidio County Museum Thrift Store for several years and worked at the museum itself for a number of years.
He was personally responsible for the planting and care taking of the beautiful lawn at the Marfa Housing Authority apartments where he lived across from the Marfa waterworks department on the Fort Davis highway.
An active and involved director on the Marfa Housing Authority Board, he was especially proud of their recent project of replacing the windows at the main apartment complex.
When George first moved to Marfa he walked everywhere, but it wasn’t long before he was riding a nice 3-wheel adult tricycle. Then, after he got his dog, Ali, she was riding in her basket with him.
(For those of you wondering about Ali, she is settling in nicely to her new home.)
Rest in peace, George, you will be missed.
