Raul “Scooby” Rios of Big Spring and formerly of Marfa passed away peacefully September 21, 2018 in Big Spring surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer.
Scooby was born in Marfa to Margarita Reyes and Patricio Rios. He attended Marfa schools and worked in construction for many years.
He loved life and loved his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by twin sons, Noel and Joel Rios, his father Patricio Rios, and stepfather Genaro Reyes.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother Margarita Reyes, brothers Richard Rios (Lynn) of Toledo, Ohio, Ruben Reyes of Odessa, sisters Anna Lara of Big Spring, Frances Garcia (Mike Salazar) of Marfa, Carolyn Sena of Midland, and Adela Farrell of Odessa.
He also leaves behind one son Joshua Rios of Florida, nieces Monica Rios (Danny Ramey) of Columbus, Ohio, Lisa Vanloo (Todd) of Houston, Andrea Anglin (Rigo) of Big Spring, and nephews David Garcia and JD Garcia (both of Marfa), RJ Rios (Zoe) of Toledo, OH, Frankie Reyes (Jessica) of Big Spring, and many cousins and great nieces and nephews.
Scooby was 59 years old.
Rosary is set for 10 a.m. Thursday, September 27 with Mass following at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marfa.
