Antonio “Tony” A. Covarrubias, 63, of Marfa passed away February 10, 2019 in El Paso after a brief illness.
He was born to Jose and Ignacia Covarrubias in Fabens, Texas on November 9, 1955.
The family moved to Marfa in the early 60s.
He attended Blackwell School and Marfa schools.
Tony worked for 15 year with Dawson Geo Physical oil company of Houston as field operator. He also worked for Highland Builders of Pecos as an electrician and he worked building the Village Farms greenhouses traveling to New Jersey, Virginia and Canada.
Antonio married Melissa Madrid on August 28, 1983 and together have a son Joseph.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melissa M. Covarrubias, sons, Joseph Covarrubias of El Paso; Antonio Covarrubias, Jr., of Alpine; daughter, Natalia Payne also of Alpine; five grandchildren and his brother, Jose Covarrubias, Jr. of Alpine.
He will be greatly missed by all who called him husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Services will be private, but viewing will be held Saturday, January 16, 2019 from 2-3pm at Sunset Funeral Home 9521 North Loop Dr. in El Paso. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Americas, El Paso.
