Charles W. Mertz
Charles W. Mertz, 82, of Richmond, passed away September 12, 2018.
He was born January 3, 1936 in Houston,- to Edgar and Gussie Rohan Mertz. He honorably served our country in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Naval Reserve.
Mr. Mertz came to Marfa in 1986 and was the Marfa National Bank executive vice president. He was the bank president from November 1991 to May 1995.
He was a faithful and dedicated member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond. Charles was involved with the Rotary International Association, was a Knight of Columbus and A Sons of Hermann Member. This loving father, cousin and friend will be missed.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Frances Brenek, and their son, Matthew William Mertz.
Survivors include his son, Brian Mertz; cousins, Miriam Gore, Pat Hessler and Tommy Mertz; along with extended family and friends.
Visitation and the Rosary was the evening of Monday, September 17 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The service was the afternoon of Tuesday, September 18 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
