Marfa observes Memorial Day on Monday
MARFA – Presidio County Veterans Service Officer Jaime Juarez invites everyone to come join in our Memorial Day program, beginning at 10am Monday, May 27, Memorial Day, at the USO building, to honor our fallen hometown veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice during times of war.
The welcome and pledge of allegiance will be conducted by Juarez, a Marfa High School graduate and U.S. Marine veteran of the Iraqi and Afghanistan theaters.
The Invocation will be conducted by Chaplain Ed Jennings, followed by the “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
The reading of the names of our Fallen Heroes will be done by Marfa Mayor Manny Baeza, retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Colonel Dan Dunlap of Marfa, and Juarez.
Taps will be played by Marfa ISD Superintendent Oscar Aguero, followed by “Amazing Grace.”
Chaplain Jennings will invoke a closing prayer.
The public is welcome to place new U.S. flags at the graves of Marfa’s fallen heroes after the observance.
Refreshments will be served, and everyone is invited to this fee and important event.
